How Student and Family Advocates Help Students and Families

Student and Family Advocates help Amarillo ISD scholars get the services they need. Students are often referred for the following:

  • Suicidal ideations and threats
  • Threats to others
  • Drugs and/or alcohol
  • Grief
  • Cutting/self harm
  • Depression
  • Family conflict
  • Habitual behavioral issues
  • Change in behavior
  • Bullying issues
  • Truancy
  • Jail/detention

AISD Student and Family Advocates work closely with Texas Panhandle Centers and other community partners to provide resources and referrals to students and their families within the District. Resources and referrals could include Texas Panhandle Center, The STAR Program, Family Support Services, NWTHS Pavilion, and many others.

Students or families can refer themselves through the student's campus school counselor or a campus administrator. Student and Family Advocates are located at each AISD high school and service all campuses.
