Physics Students Take a Ride in Cardboard Boats

May 12, 2025 – AP Physics students challenged all they’ve learned about buoyancy and flotation when they put cardboard boats they designed and built to the test, by hopping inside. As part of Amarillo High’s 17th annual cardboard boat race, each group of students had to design and build a boat and then get into their boats and paddle around the pool. AISD offers more Advanced Academics, and AP Physics is among the most difficult. This project is a fun way for students to apply and test the real-world applications of what they learned in class.
